Editing Badge, Machine Type Relationships in Pinpoint

This guide goes over how to edit Badge and machine-type associations using the Pinpoint UI.

At this time you must be a super admin to edit or delete badge-machine type relationships. If you are a regular space admin, you can only add relationships.

You must have authenticated your Canvas Badges account with Pinpoint to update/add new relationships.

Getting a Badge-ID​

We'll need to get the unique badge ID off the badge you want to create a relationship for, before going into Pinpoint to add the relationship.

  1. Before signing into Pinpoint, log in to your Canvas Badges account.

  2. Select the Issuer you belong to, and the badge you'd like to create a new relationship for.

  3. On the badge page, click the "View JSON" button on the bottom right corner. View JSON

  4. Clicking "View JSON" will bring up a popup. From this popup, you'll need to copy the identifier for this badge, which will be under the id field at the end of the URL and look like a random string of characters and numbers. See the highlighted portion of the screenshot below. ID Field

Make sure you copy the entire ID for the badge but do not include the quotation at the end! You should have copied a random-looking string of characters.

Setting up the Relationship in Pinpoint​

Now that we have the ID for a badge, we can set up the relationship in Pinpoint.

If you are modifying an existing Badge-Machine type relationship, you will alter the permission structure of existing labs! Do not do so unless you have consensus from the managers of the spaces who were involved in creating that relationship.

  1. Sign in to Pinpoint, select the space you want to manage, and select "Edit Badge-Machine Type Relationship". Admin Page

  2. Read and click through the warning that pops up.

  3. To add a new relationship, click the plus icon in the top right corner. To edit an existing relationship, click the pencil icon next to any relationship. Relationship Page.

  4. Populate the Badge ID and Machine Type Name fields with the ID of the Badge and the name of the machine type you'd like to associate together. Add row display

  5. to delete a relationship, click the delete icon next to any relationship. Select the check icon to confirm that you want to delete the relationship. Delete Delete Confirmation
